Albin Stanislavovich Gavdzinsky– was born on 4th of July, 1923 in the Bobrik village, Odesa region, Ukraine. He graduated from Odesa Art College in 1950. He was a member of the Odessa Group of Artists. He was equally at home with still life, portraiture and landscape painting, however it is landscape painting that the painter realized his full talent.
Charged with a soft lyricism, warmth, and reverence his impressionistic paintings capture the beauty of Odessa and the countryside of the Black Sea. We were honoured to have Albin here in Canada for a show at our gallery back in 1991.
In 1961 Albin was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the city of New Kakhovka. His work became the basis for the creation of the city art gallery. In 2003, the art gallery of Novaya Kakhovka was named after Albin Gavdzinsky. His paintings are on permanent display at many Ukrainian Museums. Albin passed on May 2nd 2014.
