Rick Bentham was born in Ontario, Canada in 1950. He studied fine art at Western University. He is also a graduate of film animation, Vancouver College of Art (class of 1977). Rick worked in Canada for a number of years before moving to Ireland in the eighties. A successful illustrator and film animator, he recently decided to devote his talents to painting full time.
Rick paints contemporary genre scenes in a post impressionist style. Inspired by the beauty of the Irish coastline, and his wife and family, his paintings are intimate and sensitively painted in a traditionally realistic technique.
A recipient of the Canada Council Award, he has exhibited in many well known venues in Toronto, New York, and across North America. He has had many successful shows in Ireland, and his work is in the collection of the Bank of Ireland and AIB's Singapore office.
